What this site is

This site is an informational product catalog for Klean-Strip Auto, a brand of W. M. Barr & Company, Inc. You can browse products, read how-to guides, and download safety data sheets and other documentation. There is no online store here, no checkout, and no customer account to create.

Information we collect

We collect the information you choose to send us. If you use the contact form, that means your name, your email address, and whatever you write in the message.

If you claim a mail-in promotion, that means your name, company name, shipping address, email address, phone number, how you heard about the promotion, whether you would like a visit from a local sales representative, whether you would like future emails from us, and the image of your receipt you upload. A receipt can show other details of the purchase, such as the store and part of a payment card number, so crop out anything you would rather not send. No other part of the site asks you to type in personal information.

Some information is collected automatically as you browse. Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard technical information about requests, such as the page requested, the time, the browser and device type, and an IP address. That information is used to serve the site, keep it available, and diagnose problems.

In addition, the measurement and advertising tags described under Cookies and tracking collect information about how you use the site. That happens without you entering anything.

How we use it

We use what you send us to answer your question and, where it makes sense, to follow up about the products or documentation you asked about.

We use a promotion claim to check that your purchase qualifies and to ship what the promotion offers to the address you give, which can mean sharing your name and address with the company that fulfills it. If you ask for a visit from a local sales representative, we share your contact details with the representative covering your area so they can arrange it. We do not sell the information you send us through the contact form or a promotion claim, and we do not pass it to third parties for their own marketing.

This site uses Google Analytics to measure how the site is used, and Google Tag Manager, which loads measurement and advertising tags on our behalf. Links to other sites

The store finder and retailer listings link to other companies' websites. Once you follow one of those links you are on their site, under their privacy practices, not ours. We do not control what they collect.

Data retention and security

Messages and promotion claims you send are kept for as long as we need them to handle your request or fulfill the promotion, and for ordinary business record keeping. Receipt images are stored privately and are available only to staff handling claims. We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, though no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Children

This site is aimed at trade and professional users. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

If you would like to know what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, write to us at the address below and we will handle the request in line with applicable law. The contact form and promotion claims are the only places on this site where you type in information about yourself.
